Arthur, N.D. (July 20, 2018) – First State Bank of North Dakota, Arthur, N.D., has changed its name to BankNorth.
First Financial Corp., the holding company of what is now BankNorth, announced the name change today.
BankNorth President James L. Williams III said the name change was necessary because of the acquisition of First State Bank of Warner (S.D.), which has locations in Warner and Aberdeen.
“For the first time in our nearly 115 years we’re expanding beyond the borders of our home state of North Dakota,” Williams said. “We couldn’t be more excited about the potential this holds for our customers, communities and employees, and how our new name encompasses all our locations in both states.”
Williams called the acquisition “a perfect fit,” saying that, like BankNorth, First State Bank of Warner is a family-owned bank with a similar culture, core values and dedication to building and supporting strong communities.
“We have two new branch locations and a new name, but Values-Based Banking will always remain the same,” he said.
BankNorth announced the acquisition of First State Bank of Warner in March 2017. It expects to fulfill the necessary regulatory requirements and finalize the merger of the two banks in September 2018.
BankNorth has been serving customers and communities for nearly 115 years. It currently offers Values-Based Banking products and services through branches in Arthur, Buffalo, Casselton, Enderlin, LaMoure, Lisbon, Marion and Oakes in North Dakota.
